How it works

Chatbot, assistant, or Super Intelligence: which one owns the outcome?

Three tools can get the same request. Only one of them finishes the job. Here is how to tell them apart, and what to hand off first.

By Super Intelligence AI5 min read

A cluttered desk late at night under a single lamp, covered in invoices and sticky notes.

Why does the difference matter?

Because the cost is your time. A Time etc survey of entrepreneurs found that 36% of the work week goes to administrative tasks. Asana's Anatomy of Work Index puts about 60% of a person's time at work into "work about work": chasing updates, switching apps, searching for information.

A tool that only answers questions leaves most of that work with you.

What does each one do with the same request?

Take one sentence: "Set up a meeting with my sales manager next week about the new pricing."

What should you hand off first?

The work that repeats and the work that slips.

  • Inbox triage: flag what matters, reply to the routine.
  • Scheduling from its own calendar.
  • Meeting briefs: who is there, what was said last time, what is unresolved.
  • Follow-ups: turning "I'll send that tomorrow" into a tracked commitment.
  • Travel from booking to itinerary.

What should never run on its own?

Anything that binds you. Contracts, money, hiring, and legal commitments should always come back to you for a decision. A good system makes that the default and lets you set the rest.

It should also be able to read your email and calendar without ever being able to change or delete your data.

How do you know it is working?

Look at your week, not the software. Ask three questions after a month:

  1. Did I get hours back?
  2. Did fewer promises fall through the cracks?
  3. Did I walk into meetings better prepared?

If the answer is no, the tool is still answering questions, not owning outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a chatbot and a Super Intelligence?

A chatbot answers a question. A Super Intelligence owns the outcome: it does the work end to end, follows up until it is done, and brings back only the decisions you must make.

What tasks should I hand off first?

Start with work that repeats and work that slips: inbox triage, scheduling, meeting briefs, follow-ups, and travel.

What should an AI never do on its own?

Contracts, money, hiring, and legal commitments should always come back to you for a decision.
